Diverse chapter book series—especially featuring boys as the main character—are few and far between. This series is new to us, although the third book was just released in September. Happy to share with more readers who may not know about BEEP AND BOB!

Beep and Bob – Take Us to Your Sugar Review

Bob is an earthling staying at a boarding school in Outer Space. Beep is an orphan alien, living with Bob (who he lovingly calls Bob-mother). The friends love sweets, so it’s a catastrophe when the school’s artificial sweetinizer breaks. Bob proposes a solution: Astro Elementary should celebrate Halloween and give the students all the candy they want. Too bad, says the principal: holidays aren’t allowed at Astro Elementary. The students start a campaign to reinstate Halloween, which brings unexpected intergalactic consequences.

BEEP AND BOB is super funny. It’s the perfect humor level for a new reader, but there are plenty of chuckles inside for adults reading along, too.

Beep is especially lovable, with his silly baby-alien word choice. I was excited to find diverse human characters, including both genders among the crew.

The Halloween connection to the story is an added bonus for fall. Pick this one up for your early readers!
